What is Coaching, why would I require it and is it for me? What is coaching? Those who might wish access this support is wide ranging, from those working within the Creative Industries, such as those who have lost their way with their practice and are looking for support to get them back on track and help them to reinvigorate and suggest new projects, directions or approaches. To those just beginning to develop a personal practice and feel they want to begin to develop their own creative ideas, endeavours and directions, but unsure as to how to organise their time, use a sketchbook or use an appropriate range of materials. Coaching options There are two options available: OPTION A: 3 HOURS (£200) Meetings can be either online, in-person or a combination of both A series of two coaching sessions lasting 1.5 hours each, to be held within in a 2-month period. OPTION B: 6 HOURS (£350) Meetings can be either online, in-person or a combination of both A series of 3-4 coaching sessions lasting between 1.5 - 2 hours each (totalling six hours) to be held within in a 2 to 4-month period. We recognise that everyone's needs, availability and timescale will vary, so the number and frequency of sessions can be negotiated within the parameters of either 6-hours or 3-hours of contact time. So you may find that you if you booked for the 6-hours of coaching sessions and have three sessions lasting 2 hours each, 6 weeks apart ie over a three month period. About our coaches All our Arts coaches are both professional and educational practitioners in their own field of study and have each taught with the Centre of Open Learning for many years, as well as in other educational departments and institutions. Although they are all accomplished within their own specialism, each coach has a vast depth of knowledge for a wide range of aspects within the visual arts; inspiring creativity, a practical and contextual knowledge for their subject, have a broad professional insight and awareness for the creative industries, together with an understanding of the complexities of funding bids, gallery applications and structures. How to apply 1. The first step is to complete the online form and section Ready to apply? 2. Once we have received this online request form, we can then review it and determine which mentor would be the most appropriate for you. 3. You will then be emailed directly by the Head of Arts, Oliver Reed, requesting that you send further and more specific information, possibly including images which can then be sent to the appropriate mentor. It is at this point you will be contacted and asked to pay for the relevant ‘Option’ before we proceed. 4. Within a few days you will hear from the mentor directly, who will arrange a date, time and location to meet. They will request that you bring a selection of works with you. An appropriate space within the campus, usually Paterson’s Land, will be booked for the meeting. 5. After the meeting, the mentor will then write up a summary or project depending on the option you have chosen. This summary or project will be emailed to you. 6. Approximately 1 month after your meeting, you will be asked to complete an online questionnaire about your experience of the process and what benefits, if any, you gained from the programme.
