Socialise

Students will have the opportunity to explore Edinburgh and surrounding areas through organised social activities. These activities will bring students from different courses together to socialise and build a sense of community. They will also give students a feel for the rich culture, traditions and history which make Edinburgh a truly unique study destination.

Examples of previous activities include:

  • Ceilidh (Scottish dance)
  • Ghost Tour
  • Tenpin Bowling
  • Afternoon Tea
  • National Museum of Scotland
  • Day trip to Stirling Castle and St Andrews

Explore

The University of Edinburgh is based in the heart of Scotland’s capital city – a major European centre full of history, culture and world-class architecture. Edinburgh is home to two UNESCO World Heritage sites and was the first UNESCO City of Literature.

Edinburgh is easy to explore by foot or via an excellent network of buses, trains and trams. A single day in Edinburgh could see you eating ice cream on Portobello beach, climbing Arthur’s Seat (Edinburgh’s extinct volcano) or exploring our vast collection of museums and galleries.

We encourage all students to embrace the city and its culture during organised activities and periods of free time.
