Edinburgh is a vibrant and beautiful city with a rich history and culture.

The University of Edinburgh is currently ranked the 15th best university in the world, according to the latest QS World University Rankings 2023.

Beyond the more obvious thoughts of haggis, whisky and bagpipes there is so much more learn about our iconic capital city. Edinburgh is the top destination for overseas and UK visitors to Scotland and is a great place to visit and study all all times of year, but especially in the summer months.

The University of Edinburgh Summer School attracts students from all over the world so if you're thinking of applying, here's some fun facts about the city.

  • Edinburgh is the only city to have a dog on the list of citizens who have been given the prestigious Freedom of the City award. That dog is Greyfriars Bobby
