Our Access programme provides a route into higher education for those who have been out of formal education for three years or more, or who meet our eligibility criteria.

How do I know if Access is right for me?

  •  Are you excited by learning, and intellectually curious – do you enjoy thinking about and exploring new ideas and topics?
  • Do you feel ready to begin a programme of formal study?
  • Can you attend classes at our Holyrood campus twice a week?
  • Can you find around 15 hours per week for independent study?

What’s special about Access?

  • On Access, you’ll be a fully enrolled University of Edinburgh student, with access to our academic, support, social and sports facilities
  • You’ll join a supportive community of students and former students, with regular events to help you make connections and friends before you begin your degree
  • You’ll be taught in small groups (usually fewer than 20 students) by specialists in adult education and their subject areas
  • You’ll have access to our Student Support team, who can provide advice and guidance on finances, wellbeing and disability support
