The 2024/25 Access Programme Welcome Session will take place from 12.30-14.30 on Thursday 22 August 2024. The induction will take place in the Bessie Watson Lecture Room at the Outreach Centre on Holyrood Campus.

The address of the venue is 1 Morgan Lane, Edinburgh EH8 8FP.

The session is to welcome you to the Access Programme and ensure all of your questions are answered. 

Access Programme Director Rachael King will introduce you to the campus, teaching and support staff and answer any student queries. You'll also have the chance to hear from some former Access students who have successfully completed the programme. There will also be time for socialising with your new classmates.

Your student card will be ready to pick up at this session, providing you've submitted the correct documentation. For guidance to help you register for your student card, visit the below link.

In addition, there will be three separate optional sessions to attend - both online and in-person taking place before and after the first week of Access teaching (week commencing 26 August)

1) Friday 23 August from 10:00-11:00 - Online: Introduction to Virtual Learning Environment and Library:

• Hosted by James Slack of the University’s Information Services and Robert O'Brien from the Library team.  
• The session will run on Microsoft Teams and can be accessed via the link below

2)  Wednesday 28 August from 12:45-13:45 - Access Network Social at Levels Café and Lounge:

• Opportunity to meet both current and former Access students in an informal setting
• Rachael and Access student advisers Tatiana and Moya will also be present
• Levels Café and Lounge is a University space close to the Centre for Open Learning. The address is 9C Holyrood Rd, Edinburgh EH8 8FQ

3) Tuesday 3 September from 16:15-17:45 - Campus Tour - Meeting at Paterson's Land entrance (Pictured above):

• A walk with Rachael from Holyrood Campus to George Square via the Pleasance Gym and EUSA buildings to show you more of the campus including some of the different facilities and services you'll have access to as a student at the University.
