The Consortium
The Scottish ADOS Consortium is a collective of Scotland-based practitioners and researchers who are all trained not only in using ADOS but in delivering ADOS training. The Consortium are the official providers of ADOS training in Scotland.
Team Members
Michelle is a Speech and Language Therapist who trained in ADOS in 2012 and has been using ADOS in clinical practice since this time in with predominantly children and young people. Michelle started providing training for ADOS-2 in 2021 and has been a member of the consortium since this time. Michelle currently works as an independent practitioner in a neurodevelopmental service.
Lynne Bremner is a Speech and Language Therapist specialising in Autism Spectrum Disorder. She holds an honorary contract with NHS Lothian and is a lecturer in the Speech and Hearing Sciences Division at Queen Margaret University. She became an ADOS trainer in 2006 and uses the ADOS regularly in clinical practice.
Prof Sue Fletcher-Watson first qualified as an ADOS user in 2008, and has since taken part in multiple training courses as an apprentice trainer, junior trainer, trainer, course-coordinator and is a former ADOS Consortium convenor. She currently presides as Chair of Developmental Psychology and Director of the Salvesen Mindroom Research Centre at the University of Edinburgh.
Dr Judith Piggot was clinically and research trained in ADOS in 1997, and then trained again to research reliability with Dr Cathy Lord's group while at the University of California Los Angeles in 2005. Dr Piggot's interests focus on neurodevelopment and mental health and helping young people get through the day successfully.
Margaret Ritchie is currently a paediatric speech and language therapy locality manager in NHSGGC. She has been using ADOS in a variety of clinical settings since 2006 and has particular experience of its use within child and adolescent mental health settings and with older teenagers.
Dr Lucy Russell is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist working in NHS Borders.
She has a particular interest in neurodevelopmental assessment and finds the ADOS to be an invaluable and fascinating part of her work.
Dr Marion Rutherford is a Speech and Language Therapist in NHS Lothian and a researcher at Queen Margaret University, currently seconded (2019-2022) to the Scottish Government National Autism Implementation Team (NAIT). In her work she has had a focus on issues relevant to autistic people and their families, including evidence based approaches to reducing waits and effective and efficient diagnostic assessment processes across the lifespan.
Marion completed her ADOS training with colleagues at the first ADOS consortium hosted training in Scotland many years ago. She went on to use ADOS regularly in the Lothian multi-disciplinary assessment team for children and young people and became an ADOS trainer and a member of the consortium, to support clinicians in Scotland with accessible, affordable, high quality training and follow up mentoring and peer review.
Debbie is a consultant nurse and cognitive behaviour therapist working in adult autism services in London, for the National Autism Team at NHS England and as a researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience. She has been using the ADOS clinically and for research purpose since 2005 and became an ADOS trainer in 2022.
Caroline Viney is a Speech and Language Therapist and worked in Paediatrics from 1996 until March 2022, when she moved to the Adult Autism team as an Autism Clinical Specialist. She was originally trained in use of ADOS in 2004 and has been using ADOS regularly in clinical practice, becoming a trainer in 2020.
Currently the neurodevelopmental implementation lead in Glasgow city with responsibility for implementing the neurodevelopmental framework. Nikki Wallace was originally trained in ADOS administration in 2004 and since then has used all modules in clinical practice as part of a multidisciplinary team in paediatrics. She became a trainer in 2008 and since then has trained on many courses, both online and in person.
